12/10/2023 0 Comments Unyielding flexibility wandI honestly learned it all reading about woods and cores on Pottermore/the wiki, which I think was linked in a previous comment! As for your questions: I don't know enough about length and flexibility, so I will leave that the same. I have no idea what jackalope antler does as a core but its a mythical animal to which I have always had an affinity and connection. In that vein, I would love to have a desert willow as the wood description suits my personality and it naturally grows in my region. Unofficially, I love the idea of terroir and that the soil you grew up in would define your wand and yourself in part or in whole. Having read the description, I'm not offended at all. given how different wands are better at certain magics, would income disparity affect the quality of wands a student could get and their ability to do well at school?Īccording to Pottermore, its pear with unicorn hair, 12 inches with solid flexibility.do witches and wizards ever have bespoke wands made? Like they know what works and trade up in part or in whole?.how common is it for witches and wizards to try other wands to see if they might be a better fit?.Firstly the wand chooses the wizard and secondly different woods, lengths, and cores point to be better at this magic or that magic. This is a side question, but you seem to know more than I do. I do think it's interesting that aside from that small margin in size, only the wood changed for me though. Ebony wands are said to prefer people that dare to be themselves, people that are comfortable with being considered outsiders. However, my first wand (the beech one is my 2nd, I lost my pottermore account at some point) was an ebony wand of 13 3/4 inches, unbending flexibility, and also a phoenix feather. I'm quite pleased with it as it is said to favour open-minded and wise people, so I consider that a beautiful compliment. Mine is a beech wand with a phoenix feather, 13 1/2 inches, unbending flexibility. You get the more careful, protective, yet very durable and fine-tuned nature of the wood, and a strong core to drive that magic through. Elm wands are said to be able to do some incredible and advanced magic, so a powerful core like the dragon heartstrings would complement that well, I think. I love the lore for elm wands, actually, and I think the pairing makes sense. Kinda wish they would let you retake the wand quiz a couple times to simulate trying different wands at the shop, then you choose which one you think suits you best. It feels like a wand that really responds to its owner and let’s it’s personality be known. I think I know myself well and this feature would prevent me from ever trying to fool myself. I feel like I have a lot of natural insight and good instincts, and the fact that it works best with people who are honest with themselves would be handy. I’m not unhappy with it, but I think if I had a choice, I might go with Black Walnut and either dragon heartstring or unicorn hair core. But there’s not much about what kind of people pair best with Elm. It seems like a very solid combination to me, the magical consistency of the wood may mellow out the more volatile and powerful core. Would you change if you could? And to what? Im obsessed with wands currently, and curious to know how people feel about theirs from Pottermore.
